Our first community review is from Bobby Quinn who runs an amazing Pizza business over in Belfast called Belfastpizzablogger. He went along to L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele to try out their world famous pizzas, here’s what he had to say.
Hey folks
So just after Christmas I travelled to Amsterdam from Ireland on the hunt for TOP CLASS PIZZA as im a bit of a pizza nerd , And guess what? I got it!!
So before I jetted off I just found out that one of the world’s best pizza names and restaurants have just opened a branch in Amsterdam and I immediately got goosebumps and had to send them a DM on Instagram to say I’m coming and I’d like to do some content to which of course they accepted. “ BUZZING “
The place I’m referring to is the world famous “ L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele “ Stars such as Julia Roberts have ate in the Naples branch during her film “ Eat pray love “ and since then it has booked even more.
The secret of Da Michele’s enduring success is in the use of natural ingredients, and of an old, traditional, time-tested method of leavening pizza dough. In the heart of Naples, the Condurro family began what would become a long history of great pizza producers in 1870s , Since they they have opened all over the world doing traditional NEAPOLITAN style pizza!
So I stayed in Amsterdam centre just beside central station and to get to the restaurant i walked to dam square just behind madame Tussauds where I jumped on the metro at “ ROKIN “ 52 towards Station Zuid and got off at Amsterdam, De Pijp ( it was literally 2 minutes I could not believe it )
Once you get off and come up the stairs it’s literally a 2 minute walk, The Address is “ Eerste van der Helststraat 72H, 1072 NZ Amsterdam “
So once I got into the restaurant i Introduced myself to the manager who showed me around and kindly let me take some videos and pictures of the hard working staff who are masters at their craft! As a pizza snob and pizza business owner I was absolutely loving watching my pizza being made with such ease and skill!
We got
( 1 )Marinara ( No cheese ) suitable for vegans and vegetarians absolutely incredible taste.
( 2 ) Salami which had bits of nduja which is a spicy salami paste with buffalo mozzarella which was also incredible and full of flavour.
We then got a couple of desserts and of course a lot of beer to wash down the AMAZING pizza!
I really wanted and still want to go to Naples to visit these historic places but I’m so glad Amsterdam now have this place in the city and it’s a must visit for locals and anyone visiting as a tourist as you will really get a tasty of Naples on a plate , I cannot wait to go back! 10/10 for me!
So a little about me
My name’s bobby and I live in Belfast ireland , I’m 36 and I loveee pizza!! During Lockdown I started a pizza page on Instagram and Facebook called ( Belfastpizzablogger ) just to blog about pizzas but I decided to try and make my own with help from the Napoli Godfathers and it became apparent after
time I was pretty bloody good at it so I started doing pop ups and events and have since then bought TWO mobile vans which I trade from! I’m hoping to have my own restaurant this year which would be a dream for me so here’s hoping!
Thanks for listening to my story
Much love
Bobby
